The Sementes da Bola Project is a social initiative of Instituto Guirlanda (Instituto Anderson Furtado) that believes in the power of sport as a tool for education, inclusion, and transformation from early childhood. Designed for boys and girls from the age of 7, the project creates a safe environment where football becomes a pathway to learning, connection, and opportunity.
More than kicking a ball, children learn to share, respect, cooperate, and believe in themselves.
Each meeting is a moment of discovery.

Football as a school for life
Held every Wednesday afternoon at Parque de Realengo, the Sementes da Bola Project offers children a healthy environment for sports practice, social interaction, and community life. Football is used as a universal language to teach essential values such as discipline, empathy, teamwork, and responsibility.
In a context where many children lack access to structured activities, the project becomes a space of support, belonging, and development, contributing to the physical, emotional, and social growth of participants.
Leadership with experience and purpose: Sérgio Kazu
Leading the Sementes da Bola Project is Sérgio Kazu, a football coach and former professional player, with experience at major Brazilian clubs such as Grêmio and Bangu, as well as international experience in Portugal.
Sérgio Kazu brings to the project not only his technical background in sport, but above all his human sensitivity and commitment to children’s development. On the field, he guides, teaches, and inspires. Off the field, he serves as a role model, educator, and example of discipline, respect, and perseverance.
His journey in professional football has become a tool for social transformation, helping guide each child in developing skills that go far beyond sport.
Social care that reaches the whole family
The Sementes da Bola Project understands that true transformation happens when it involves not only the child, but their entire environment. For this reason, Instituto Guirlanda distributes food baskets to the families of participating children, delivered directly to their caregivers, supporting food security and household well-being.
In addition, the project offers free online courses for parents, guardians, and siblings. These courses expand access to education, promote autonomy, and strengthen the family environment as an essential part of children’s development.
Small seeds, great futures
Each child who participates in the Sementes da Bola Project carries unique potential. The project exists to nurture these seeds by offering care, opportunity, and pathways toward a more dignified future.
Impact is not measured only in goals or training sessions, but in attitudes, relationships built, confidence developed, and dreams that begin to take shape.
