Adapta Brasil Project

Inclusion is not about adapting the other. It is about transforming everyone.

The Adapta Brasil Project was created from the commitment of Instituto Guirlanda (Instituto Anderson Furtado) to building a truly inclusive society—one in which all people have space, voice, and active participation, especially those who have historically been overlooked or made invisible.

The project is dedicated to people who require accessibility and social inclusion, such as deaf people, wheelchair users, blind people, autistic individuals, and persons with other disabilities, recognizing their uniqueness, abilities, and potential. Adapta Brasil is guided by a simple yet powerful principle: inclusion is not a favor—it is a right.

Accessibility as a starting point, not an exception

Adapta Brasil promotes accessible cultural, educational, and social initiatives, designed from the very beginning to welcome different bodies, senses, and forms of communication. One example is the production of theater performances with accessibility resources, created so that everyone can experience art fully, respectfully, and with dignity.

But the project goes beyond adapting existing activities. It proposes a shift in perspective: creating experiences where accessibility is not an add-on, but the foundation of everything.

Empowerment that transforms

One of the central pillars of the Adapta Brasil Project is the empowerment and protagonism of persons with disabilities. Here, they are not merely an audience—they are active agents.

The project creates spaces for these individuals to act as speakers, artists, performers, facilitators, and creators, sharing their stories, knowledge, and talents. By occupying the center of the initiatives, they are no longer seen through the lens of limitation, but recognized for their strength, creativity, and contribution to society.

This shift in roles generates a profound impact, not only for those directly involved, but for the entire surrounding community.

A space for connection and transformation

The activities of the Adapta Brasil Project take place at the Casa Cultural Instituto Guirlanda e Êxito, located in Botafogo—an environment designed for connection, dialogue, and collective creation. It is there that inclusive experiences gain form, voice, and visibility.

Each action of the project strengthens coexistence among different realities, fosters empathy, and broadens social awareness about the importance of accessibility and inclusion in all areas of life.

How to participate and support

An invitation to change

Adapta Brasil is an invitation to rethink the world as it is—and as it could be.
An invitation to see people before labels.
An invitation to build accessibility through respect, listening, and presence.

Because a society is only truly developed when no one is left behind.
